Last month, I did something that made my business partners think I’d lost my mind.
I deleted an email list of 65,000 subscribers.
A list that had generated millions in revenue.
A list that most marketers would kill for.
Gone. Deleted. Poof.
Why would I do something so “stupid”?
Because email marketing is dying, and most people are too stubborn to admit it.
The Email Marketing Lie Everyone’s Still Believing
Let me guess what you’ve been told about building an online business:
“The money is in the list.” “Email marketing has the highest ROI.” “You need to get people off social media and onto your email list.”
I used to preach the same thing.
I built multiple 6-figure email lists. I had sophisticated autoresponder sequences. I tracked open rates, click rates, and conversion rates like a scientist.
And for a while, it worked beautifully.
But then something changed.
Why Email Marketing Stopped Working (And Why No One Talks About It)
Here’s what the email marketing gurus won’t tell you:
Your emails aren’t getting delivered.
Gmail, Yahoo, and other email providers have gotten ruthless about filtering promotional emails. Even if someone subscribed to your list 5 minutes ago, there’s a good chance your emails are landing in spam or the promotions tab.
People hate being on email lists.
Think about your own behavior. When you buy something online, what’s the first thing you do? You unsubscribe from their email list because you know you’re about to get hammered with daily pitches.
Email fatigue is real.
The average person gets 121 emails per day. Your carefully crafted email is competing with work emails, family updates, and 47 other marketers trying to sell them something.
It’s becoming expensive and complicated.
Good email deliverability requires dedicated IP addresses, domain warming, list cleaning, and a dozen other technical things that have nothing to do with actually helping your customers.
I was spending $3,000+ per month just on email marketing tools and services. And my open rates kept dropping.
The Moment I Realized Email Was Dead
The breaking point came when I looked at my analytics and realized something shocking:
85% of my revenue was coming from my Facebook group, not my email list.
People weren’t buying because of my perfectly crafted email sequences.
They were buying because they got to know me in the group. They saw real conversations. They witnessed other people getting results. They felt like part of a community.
My email list was just… there. Taking up space. Costing me money.
So I deleted it.
All 65,000 subscribers. Gone.
What I Replaced It With (And Why It’s 10X Better)
Instead of trying to fix a broken system, I went all-in on something that was actually working:
Community-based marketing.
Specifically, I moved everything to Skool.
If you haven’t heard of Skool, it’s a platform created by Sam Ovens and Alex Hormozi that combines the best parts of Facebook groups, online courses, and community platforms.
Here’s why it’s absolutely crushing email marketing:
1. People Actually See Your Content
When I post in my Skool group, people see it. No algorithm hiding my posts. No spam filters. No promotions tab. Just real visibility.
2. Real Engagement
I can post something in my 9,000-person Skool group and get 20+ comments in 2 minutes. The same post in my old 65,000-person Facebook group would get crickets.
3. Genuine Relationships
Instead of broadcasting to a faceless email list, I’m having real conversations with real people. They ask questions. I answer them. We build actual relationships.
4. Social Proof in Real-Time
When someone posts a success story or asks a question, everyone sees it. New members can witness the community in action before they ever consider buying anything.
5. No Deliverability Issues
I don’t have to worry about IP reputation, domain warming, or any of the technical nonsense that comes with email marketing.
The Results Speak for Themselves
Since switching from email-focused marketing to community-focused marketing:
-My conversion rates increased by 300%
-My customer lifetime value doubled
-My refund rate dropped to almost zero
-My stress level plummeted (no more worrying about email deliverability)
-My students get better results (because they’re part of a real community)
But here’s the best part: It’s actually easier.
Instead of crafting complex email sequences and worrying about deliverability, I just show up and provide value to my community. That’s it.
Why Most People Are Still Stuck in Email Marketing Hell
If community marketing is so much better, why isn’t everyone doing it?
Three reasons:
1. They’re Addicted to “Passive Income” Fantasies
Email marketing promises that you can “set it and forget it.” Write some emails, set up an autoresponder, and money flows in while you sleep.
It’s a nice fantasy, but it’s not reality anymore.
Real businesses require real relationships. And relationships aren’t passive.
2. They Don’t Know How to Build Communities
Most marketers know how to write emails. They don’t know how to foster engagement, create valuable discussions, or build genuine communities.
It’s a different skill set.
3. They’re Following Outdated Advice
The email marketing advice you’re following was written 5 years ago when it actually worked. The gurus teaching it are still living in 2018.
What This Means for You
If you’re trying to build an affiliate marketing business using email marketing as your primary strategy, you’re fighting an uphill battle.
You’re using a 2018 strategy in a 2025 world.
Here’s what you should be doing instead:
Join communities where your ideal customers already hang out.
Don’t try to pull people away from where they’re already engaged. Meet them where they are.
Build relationships before you make offers.
Stop trying to sell to strangers. Get to know people. Let them get to know you. Build trust first.
Focus on providing value in community settings.
Instead of sending promotional emails, provide value in places where people can see it, engage with it, and share it with others.

These aren’t outliers. This is what happens when you use strategies that actually work in 2025.
Why This Community Is Different
I know what you’re thinking. “Another free group making big promises.”
I get it. You’ve probably joined dozens of Facebook groups that promised the world and delivered nothing but spam and self-promotion.
This is different. Here’s why:
1. It’s Curated
Not everyone gets in. I personally review every application to make sure we’re only letting in serious people.
2. It’s Active
I’m in there every day. Answering questions. Providing feedback. Sharing what’s working in my business right now.
3. It’s Results-Focused
We don’t talk theory. We share what’s actually working. Real strategies. Real results. Real accountability.
4. It’s Time-Limited
This won’t stay free forever. Once we hit our member limit, it becomes paid-only.
